Edessa is just 1 hour and a quarter from Thessaloniki by car. It is a three-hour bike route from Thessaloniki if you take the Ancient Via Egnatia Road. You can also come by bus or train and bring your bike with you.

Edessa offers a global uniqueness. The waterfall Geopark with the only waterfall Karanos whose water falls from a height of 70 meters, is located in the city. What better than a photo of your bike next to the Waterfalls?

Visit the Open Air Water museum. Follow the route through the traditional town quarter Varosi, with its stone-built houses, the Folklore museum and the Byzantine temples.

Themed bike paths next to the riverbanks, through its beautiful neighborhoods, between its smells and its smiling people. Track the waterways, the Cherry routes, the places where Ho Chi Minh passed. Get in touch with her energy and beauty.

The pedestrian city center and a series of pedestrian routes along the 7 canals of the Edessa-Voda River are accessible to bicycles offering comfortable, limited-signposted cycling routes. There are many parking spaces in the city center and neighborhoods as well as at main points in the city, while visitors’ electric bicycles can be charged (free of charge during opening hours) in the Info Center.

In Edessa there is a system of bicycles that visitors and the citizens can hire at a very low price. The aim is to further encourage the use of bicycles. There are two bicycle rental places.

One at the Waterfall’s Park and one at the small waterfall’s Park.

There are 2 cycling events each year that are officially included in the calendar of events of the Ministry of Culture of the SG Sports Tourism and each September a cycling holiday with a cycling tour of the city is organized as part of European Mobility Week.

The events are organized by the local cycling club which also organizes cycling excursions in collaboration with the Edessa Municipal Welfare Company.

Leaflets and guides suggest sustainable urban mobility and encourage bicycle use and cycling while Edessa at every exhibition in and out of the country promotes visitors’ ability to use the bike on the routes in and out of the city.

We note that all services, routes are available with free access to a bike path map for the bike either in hard copy or electronically.

In Edessa there are 3 hotels in the area of ​​Varosi which have bicycle parking and support equipment.
