Cycling Routes Through the “Cherry Blossoms of Pieria”
Among the many events featured in the well-established “Cherry Blossoms of Pieria 2025” initiative—organized for the second consecutive year by the Pieria Tourism Development and Promotion Organization (POTAP)—are the “Cycling Routes,” an activity that blends outdoor sports, leisure, and wellness in harmony with the region’s natural environment.
This noteworthy opportunity is part of the broader “Cherry Blossoms of Pieria 2025” programme, taking place in the cherry-growing areas of the region. On Saturday, April 5, the event will be hosted in Kolindros, and on Sunday, April 6, in Rachi, Katerini. The initiative is supported by two local organizations actively engaged in cycling-related activities.
Under the motto “Spring’s Beauty is Found Here,” this initiative is part of a broader strategy of POTAP to promote Pieria as a tourism destination, particularly in the context of nature-based and experiential travel.
The cycling route in Kolindros is supported by the local sports and cultural association “TRIAS.” Members, friends, and the general public are invited to cycle through the cherry orchards, with the “Asprogianni” area in the northern part of Pieria as the central point of reference. The ride will start from Kolindros main square at 11:45 AM on Saturday, April 5, 2025. A group departure from Katerini is scheduled for 11:00 AM from the Pieria Regional Unit building (28th October Street, No. 40), where participants will also return after the ride.

On Sunday, April 6, attention shifts to the cherry-growing region of Rachi in Katerini. The event will be coordinated by “Podilatiki Apodrasi Pierias”, which invites not only its members but also anyone interested in cycling through cherry blossoms with the scenic backdrop of Mount Olympus and the Pierian Mountains.
The cycling route will begin at 12:00 PM from the main square of Agios Loukas in Rachi. Transport for cyclists will again be provided from the Pieria Regional Unit building, with departure at 11:30 AM and return after the event.

Transportation for participants on both days will be facilitated by the “Green Bus Travel” agency of the Intercity KTEL of Pieria. POTAP publicly acknowledges and thanks the agency for its contribution.
The “Cherry Blossoms of Pieria 2025” initiative is held under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), with organizational support from the Pieria Regional Unit, the Municipalities of Katerini and Pydna-Kolindros, the Pieria Chamber of Commerce, and the Agricultural Cooperative of Rachi “Agios Loukas”.
It is noting that Pieria has been awarded the Bike Friendly Destination certification, further validating its positioning as an ideal location for cycling and nature-based tourism.
